POLICY

The ability to translate scientific findings into actionable policies on the ground is paramount to climate change mitigation and adaptation. Climate regulations and market-based incentives have the potential to catalyze economic and societal changes in the way we manage our ecosystems, but only if we can get the accounting right. To be able to implement these market-based programs, we need accessible, scientifically robust measurement strategies that capture the whole range of climate, habitat, human, and water impacts of land use change and land management.


Carbon Neutrality Fellow, University of California Office of the President

As a UCOP Carbon Neutrality research fellow, I worked to understand how land use emissions will contribute to the UC system's commitment to system-wide carbon neutrality by 2025. 


Voluntary and Compliance Greenhouse Gas Markets

With the American Carbon Registry, I worked to establish a portfolio of agriculture and land use greenhouse gas accounting methodologies that promote low emission management practices.  These methodologies outline the accounting and quantification standards for the voluntary carbon market.

Low emission development practices in southeast Asia

I spent more than two years in Laos and Vietnam working with national and provincial governments on low emission land management, sustainable forestry practices, and quantifying ecosystem services.
